Every Sunday during the English Service at 8:30am we have Children's Church.
We have had a few changes to our team during the year. Taryn Schütz and Handsome Manqele left the team and we thank them for their dedication during their service. We were also blessed to have Liesel Muhl and Laurence Thom join us. Thank you for your willingness to serve in this ministry.
I wish to extend a word of thanks to my team who have supported me throughout the year. They really are a very faithful group of willing helpers. Almut Buhr, Gisela Fechter, Annemarie Rawlins, Sma Mthembu, Vee Nyathikazi, Simtho Gumede, Liesel Muhl and Laurence Thom. Thank you all VERY much for all your hard work.
We continue to use the Light Series from Scripture Union as we find it a great resource for children of all ages from 3 years upwards. There are more than enough activities to choose from and every helper can choose ones that suit their strengths and what they feel comfortable with. The added advantage is that the series covers well known bible stories as well as lesser known stories and make them life applicable. It’s important that children learn that faith and daily life are inextricably linked. This year we had our annual Easter Egg hunt which is always enjoyed by the children. We also had the annual Christmas Party which was also very successful with each of the children being given a Bible Story book. In addition to these regular events, we also introduced a few new ones. We made and handed out chocolates for Mother’s and Father’s Day as well as making Christmas cards which were handed out at the Christmas Eve service. Our most special event must be the special service we held in September. This was a way to show the congregation what we had been learning in Children’s Church as well as involving the whole congregation in the nurturing of our children by means of the prayer stars. This service was followed by tea and biscuits and games for the children and finished off with hotdogs for all who were there. Thank you very much to Council for their support of this event. We hope to make it a regular one.
We give God all honour for continually sustaining this ministry.

Children are a blessing from the Lord. With these blessings also come responsibilities. As stewards of God's children, parents are responsible for helping children grow physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Churches have a responsibility toward children, too. We want to provide an environment in which children are safe, are taught at an age-appropriate level, and are encouraged to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We minister to the spiritual needs of our children through a children's ministry program. The need for this program is evident in that many young people reach adulthood and decide not to follow Christ. They had not been prepared to accept him as their Savior.
If we are to have a healthy future, it is essential that we have a viable children's ministry.

"Give ear, O my people, to my teaching. . . things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us, We will not hide them from their children but "tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might and the wonders that he has done. . . which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God but keep his commandments."
